Hydroponics Easy

Hydroponics for Beginners
Many people who lack a backyard in which to grow a garden are turning to hydroponics. And for people who aren’t content with just a summer garden, it provides an outlet for year round gardening.
Hydroponic gardening isn’t a simple undertaking. Yet there are numerous advantages to this gardening technique as well. With hydroponics, you’ll get bigger plants and a bigger harvest. This is all possible with less work than that involved in a regular garden.
For instance, weeds aren’t much of a problem in a hydroponic garden. Because of the medium in which the plants grow, it’s difficult for weeds to take hold, and they’re easily eliminated when they do appear.
But it’s harder to manage the nutrient and water requirements. Light control is more important, and pH adjustment is critical. In a soil-based garden, many of these factors are self-regulating. But in hydroponics, they need a little extra care from the gardener.
Buying a kit is the easiest way to get going on a hydroponics garden. Since you don’t have to do a lot of research regarding what you need to purchase, these kits are particularly valuable to the novice. Everything you need is included: trays, nutrients, lights and the feeding system.
However, your plants will still require a lot of care. You need to feed the proper nutrients to your plants. You’ll have to set up a feeding system and monitor it regularly. Automatic watering systems will need to be arranged.
Just like with your outdoor garden, you have to pay attention to pests and disease in a hydroponic setup. Constant moisture provides a fertile environment for bacteria, mildew and other harmful organisms. Many common garden pests will still need to be dealt with.
There are actually several media in which you can grow plants hydroponically. Some hydroponic gardeners prefer an all-water system. Trays that hold roots and solutions are fitted with supports from which strings hold the plant upright. Other gardeners enjoy working with media such as rockwool and perlite.
A convenient way to grow a hydroponic garden is in a greenhouse. That way you can control the light, air, water and other factors much more easily than other settings.
Another option is using hydroponic grow boxes, which are also known as grow tents. These are enclosed environments that provide all the external conditions necessary for a healthy hydroponics garden. This includes lighting and a ventilation system. These systems make gardening easy, and allow you to create the perfect environment for your hydroponic garden.
