Hydroponics Biology
Biology assignment, The Importance Of Plants, please help?
So, I guess this all has to do with plants, and I need some BASIC definitions of the following words and supporting information to back them up.
A) Succession – various categories
B)Competition – various types
C) Biodiversity – compare/contrast with monoculture
D) Fertilizers – natural vs. synthetic & the difference between soil grown plants and hydroponics.
E) Food Plants – what are the two most important. What are the others?
F) In addition to food, plants are the source of many other products. What are the other three important products obtained from plants? This is separate from medicinal chemical plant products.
G) List important medicinal chemical plant products – at least 6 and tell what their effects are on the body.
H) What was the first important pesticide to be synthesized? What are alternatives that can be utilized? What is biological accumulation and biological magnification?
Thanks in advance. (:
A) The natural progression of a forest is from conifer (pine) to hardwoods.
B) Sunlight, nutrients, space
c) having many plants instead of one
d) natural fertilizers (manure, etc) add organic matter which is the life of the soil. Synthetic fertilizers break down the structure of the soil. Hydroponics is a soiless type of plant cultivation.
e) I would think corn and rice, but look it up. potatoes, wheat, etc
f) wood, clothing, hmmm
g) digatilis (foxglove) heart med.
morphine (opium poppy)
willow – aspirin
h) ddt – look up the term “half life”
Now this is at least half, but you need to learn how to look things up and study, because life is much easier later.
