There are many plants that you probably eat each week from your supper market, that have been grow hydroponicilly, like tomatos, lettice and many more, especially the one that need lots and lots of water.
Advantages.
1 Hydroponicilly grow plants require less space for the root systems to fully develup.
2 Water and nutrient management can be closely monitored and controlled.
3 Plants grow hydroponicilly, grow much faster,compared to soil.
Disadvantages
Only one i can think of power failure,water stops, plants die.,,,oh maybe using power to water the plants in the first place.
depends on the plant grown, water loving plants grow much faster,like lettuce, but generally much faster hydroponicilly apposed to soil.
In resent years NASA have been looking at growing plants in space hydroponilly
